During your time as a History student you will encounter a variety of teaching styles and methods. Most teaching in this Department is conducted through lectures and seminars/tutorials. Lectures are often used to impart information, concepts and theories, provide an introductory overview of a subject, arouse student interest in a subject, draw together the main ideas about a subject, and review recent research.
Seminars allow group discussion of topics already prepared by the student, student presentations, and other forms of interaction and discussion as appropriate. Lectures and seminars may be structured in a variety of ways, and the Department aims to offer you a varied and stimulating learning experience.
