Why did you choose to study at Sheffield?

After attending the open day at Sheffield I realised how amazing the wide range of modules were. I have always had an interested in modern history but after the open day I soon realised that there were many other historical periods that I would be able to delve into at Sheffield.

Has your experience so far been what you expected?

Coming to Sheffield has been the best decision I've ever made. The lectures are intriguing and the seminars with tutors give you the perfect opportunity to expand and develop your knowledge.

What are you particularly enjoying about your degree?

So far, I have particularly enjoyed lectures on Ancient Rome as it is a period that is completely new to me and yet is vastly interesting. My other module on Disenchantment is also riveting with topics surrounding religion, magic and witchcraft.

What have you been studying this year?

For my first year I have taken Paths from Antiquity to Modernity, History Workshop and The Disenchantment of the European World. I have particularly enjoyed Disenchantment as it makes you question your own perspective of history and raises so many fascinating issues.

What are you doing outside of history?

I am currently a member of the History Society, Forge Radio, and the Orchestra and Wind orchestra. There's a wide range of societies you can join at Sheffield to do in your free time and there really is something for everyone.

What do you like about living in Sheffield?

Sheffield is the perfect city to be a student. It has many green spaces, a great nightlife and the music scene is awesome. There are many great music venues around Sheffield like the O2 Academy and The Leadmill.

Would you recommend studying at Sheffield to a friend?

Absolutely. Since coming to Sheffield I have had the best time of my life and met some amazing people.
