The Sheffield Leader – Alumni Event, 23rd March 2012

The first alumni event for the Sheffield Leader programme has taken place. The event, which brought together past and present participants in an engaging forum, enabled 'alumni' from all cohorts and levels of Sheffield Leader to meet together and continue to network and share good practice and learning around leadership.

One key feature was a presentation by Professor Joe Raelin, renowned author and expert on action learning and collaborative leadership. Professor Raelin, who is currently the Knowles Chair of Practice-Oriented Education at Northeastern University (Boston, USA), presented an exciting new way to practice leadership and leadership development, through the introduction of ‘leaderful practice.’

Director of Operations for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Susan Bridgeford, a previous Sheffield Leader participant, said: "It is good to meet people from other cohorts and hear the overall philosophy behind The Sheffield Leader program. It is also a positive way to create a community and encourage continuous learning.”

During the event, Andy Dodman, Director of Human Resources, said: “We aim to build a vibrant community of leaders - being a Sheffield Leader is continuous and should not end with completion of the modules.”

It is intended that there will be 3 to 4 of these Sheffield Leader Alumni events throughout the year.
