We are delighted to inform you that the University and its recognised trade unions have reached joint agreement on the Change Management policy and related procedures: Restructuring, Redundancy Avoidance, Redeployment, and Redundancy, which will be effective from 1 May 2013.
The Change Management policy suite, which is due to be formally signed off on 22 May 2013 at the University’s Joint Union Campus Committee (JUCC), provides an overarching policy framework for the management of significant workplace change, which may impact on staffing levels or employment contracts. This is a new policy for the University of Sheffield which establishes that:
- Changes which affects staffing levels will be managed fairly
- The University will seek to safeguard employment, where possible
- The University will engage in meaningful consultation.
The new policy suites provide a set of robust yet flexible employment policies and related procedures that better reflect a modern and progressive working environment and which support the University’s own unique challenges and future aims. All comply with legislation and are considered exemplars of good practice.
