Welcome to the Adopters Network

The University is pleased to launch a new group aimed specifically at people who have or are thinking about adopting children.

Supported by the Parents@TUoS network, this new Adopters network will meet quarterly to give adopters across the University a chance to meet up with each other, to gain support, and find out useful information on topics that are specific to adopters.

Where did it all begin?

Marianne Lewis

My name is Marianne Lewis and I am the proud adoptive mum to 2 boys. Once I returned to work after my adoption leave, I was approached by several people to offer my experience and support in going through the adoption process.
This made me realise that a support group specifically set up for existing and future adopters would not only be an excellent idea, due to there being specific needs for adoptive parents, but was also needed! Therefore the Adoption Network was born.

Aims

 • An information network for those considering adoption
• Support for those who are in the process of adopting
• Post adoption peer support
• Share best practice

The group is open to all those with adopted children as well as those who are thinking about adopting or going through the adoption process. To find out the date of the next adopters group meeting email: adoptiongroup@sheffield.ac.uk
