The detail of this stage will depend on whether the change will have a significant impact on staffing levels/employment contracts as defined in the University Restructuring procedure (see right-hand link).

This will determine the extent to which this stage is about formal consultation with staff and their representatives or whether it is about sharing and exploring through less formal channels the options for change.

Even if the proposed change does not meet legislative requirements to formally consult collectively and individually it is good practice to consult with relevant stakeholders such as staff, students, customers, etc, exploring issues, seeking feedback and possibly revising plans.
