Guidance for Flexible Workers
It is particularly important for staff working flexibly to proactively manage their relationship with their line manager.
Upon making their flexible working arrangements, it is important for the member of staff and their line manager to agree practicalities in relation to the arrangements.
It may be helpful to plan regular meetings together, during which the staff member and their line manager should agree expectations and performance targets. These meetings will also provide an opportunity to share views and assess how the flexible working arrangements are working.
By taking the time to meet regularly and ensuring that these meetings take priority, it will help to ensure that the staff member’s contributions, achievements and any problems they may be experiencing, are made apparent to their line manager and that they receive the appropriate level of support and supervision.
