Staff Review and Development Scheme - SRDS

The Staff Review and Development Scheme (SRDS) is an annual discussion that all staff have with their manager; to review progress against previous objectives and role expectations; provide feedback; discuss future plans and set objectives; and plan for support and development. In our current circumstances, the key principles of the Staff Review and Development Scheme will continue to apply. The following webpages sets out our guidance to departments, managers and staff. Reviewers and reviewees are advised to familiarise themselves with amended guidance on:
- Holding remote meetings
- Reviewing performance
- Setting flexible objectives
There is no direct link between SRDS and reward but as a significant part of the conversation focuses on your performance and contribution the feedback you receive should inform and be consistent with any decisions made regarding reward and recognition.
|April||First Departmental Review Panel (DRP) commence.|
|April onwards||SRDS reviews start taking place.|
|September||Second Departmental Review Panel (DRP) to take place.|
|October||Faculty Panel to take place.|
|31 October||Deadline for recording completion of SRDS in MyTeam.|
Guidance for departments
Departmental Review Panel meetings (DRPs) will need to consider the timeframe for commencing and concluding SRDS reviews and HoDs are advised that unless flexibility is needed for those in certain roles impacted through our response to coronavirus, the timeframes would remain the same as in the table below.
DRPs should be convened in the usual way, although these will need to be organised virtually e.g. Google Hangouts Meet (IT Services have created some useful guidance). DRPs should ensure Reviewers and Reviewees are appropriately paired and that the arrangements discussed and agreed are then conveyed to reviewers and reviewees in the department.
To facilitate a remote review, a different approach to the SRDS forms may be beneficial to Reviewer and Reviewee. A Google version of the SRDS form template has been created to make it easier to share and complete the document remotely.
