Senior Titles

Professorial Titles

Professorial level titles are the highest mark of academic recognition awarded in the University.  They are reserved for those cases of the highest academic or equivalent standing.

Approval for all titles rests with the University Reward & Recognition Panel which sits on an annual basis.  Further detail on the promotion process and conferment of titles can be found on the Annual Reward and Recognition pages.

Chair Titles

All Chair holders are encouraged to adopt a specialist title to reflect the relevant discipline field in which they work.  The format of the title should be "Professor of ......"

If required, the agreed title may subsequently be amended, after consultation with the Head of Department and the Vice President and Head of Faculty.

Reader Titles

All Readers are encouraged to adopt a specialist title to reflect the relevant discipline field in which they work.   The format of the title should be "Reader in ......"

If required, the agreed title may subsequently be amended, after consultation with the Head of Department and the Vice President & Head of Faculty.
