Bethany Rodgers Assoc. CIPD
People Development Manager

Bethany's background has been in predominantly in the HE sector, working and leading on various areas of HR and OD. A trained and experienced workplace coach she is keen to support and enable individual employees and line managers consider their own and others' development needs as part of continuous learning. Her interests in holistic people development have also led to undertaking further training on mindfulness and mental health first aid. Areas of particular focus include creating and embedding growth mindset approaches at individual, team and organisational levels, particularly when managing change, and the importance of vulnerability based and brave leadership.

Recent areas of work Bethany has led on and contributed to are the design, implementation, delivery and evaluation of Sheffield Leader Essentials and considering how we develop early and new managers at the University.

Bethany has a Diploma in Learning and Development, and has numerous accreditations including use of specific psychometrics (such as Belbin and MBTI), is a Change Management Practitioner and is an ACAS trained Mediator. Bethany is currently undertaking a MSc in strategic leadership and management.

Emma Murdoch
OD Adviser (People Development)

Emma is an OD Specialist with a strong background in Leadership development; recognised for her innovative approach to solutions. Having taken an unconventional route into the field of OD, studying English & Film at The University of Leeds and then Digital Marketing Leadership with Google, Emma draws on a range of experience to ensure her support is effective and accessible.

Since joining the University in August 2019, Emma’s focus has been on supporting the OD function to deliver against the Vision for “One University” and working to ensure our development offer enables this.

Helena Hopkin

Helena Hopkin
OD Adviser (People Development)

Helena is an experienced HR practitioner with a background in both HR Services and Organisation Development. After graduating in History from the University of Sheffield in 2014, Helena has worked in Higher Education and the private sector, as well as spending time working overseas. She uses her varied experience to provide a high level of support across the University.

Helena’s main focus within the People Development team is providing project support on the Sheffield Leader: Impact Programmes, encompassing the Executive Team Programme and the Personal Development Programme, helping to ensure our development programmes equip our leaders to deliver the University’s ambition of achieving excellence.

Naomi Richardson

Naomi Richardson Assoc. CIPD
OD Adviser (People Development)

Naomi is an experienced HR professional, working within a generalist setting for over 5 years, predominantly in public and third sector organisations across South Yorkshire. After undertaking a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education York St John University, she went on to graduate with an MSc in Human Resource Management from Sheffield Hallam University and is Level 7 qualified and an Associate Member of the CIPD.

By developing good relationships and using the techniques she learnt from undertaking the Barefoot Coaching Course, Naomi is experienced at partnering with managers at all levels to take an active role in enhancing management capability, with particular focus on coaching front line and newer managers to support them in leading their teams effectively, and providing support, guidance and ‘check and challenge’ to their decision making within day to day management.

Alongside this, she has utilised various learning and development initiatives to enable departments to deliver against their business plans and worked in partnership with senior leaders to support the implementation of ongoing OD and change projects. She has also delivered facilitation of more structured development such as the Stepping Into Management (SIM) course and created a wealth of resources including a Line Manager’s toolkit to support managers and leaders covering a diverse range of topics, accessed when and where they needed them.

Naomi is particularly interested in a holistic approach to organisational development and hopes to achieve this by working collaboratively across both OD and the wider HR department as well as other key internal and external stakeholders; ensuring aspects such as wellbeing and EDI underpins all that we do.

Naomi joined the University in June 2021, and will be using her skills and experience to ensure we can support the development of people to their fullest potential. This is something which excites her as we embark on delivering the priorities of our Vision of One University in a time of exciting change recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ian Cadwallader

Ian Cadwallader
Learning Technologist (People Development)

Ian provides administrative and technical support to the Development Team, for Sheffield Leader Impact and Essentials and Staff Development programmes.

With a degree in Electronic Media and Photography, Ian also helps with media and technical support for Organisational Development and is a member of the HR Green Impact Team.

Kennis Cho

Kennis Cho
HR Assistant (People Development)

Kennis works full time as an HR Assistant in the People Development team.

Kennis provides project and administrative support to a variety of Leadership and Management Development activities including the Sheffield Leader and Staff Development Programmes. He is also involved with annual SRDS training courses and new HoDs induction events.

Before joining the University, Kennis completed a degree in Human Resource Management and is currently an Associate CIPD member. He has over 15 years working experience in hotel operations and customer services in various 5 stars hotels in Hong Kong.
