How to Apply?

There are different application processes depending on what you are applying for: 

  1. Non-accredited study days
  2. Accredited units/modules
  3. Postgraduate courses

Please note all correspondence for applications will be sent via email, please check your account regularly, and ensure that messages from @sheffield.ac.uk and @shef.ac.uk are allowed by your junk mail filters.

A. Non-accredited study days

2. Funding

  • If you are LBR funded, you will be sent a pdf copy of your application to use to seek funding approval from your trust. Please note, all funding is subject to availability.  The Admissions Team will contact you if funding is not available, once you have submitted a completed fees and funding form.
  • If your fee is being paid by a sponsor (eg non-NHS employer) please forward a sponsor letter with details of how we can invoice for the fee to our office.
  • If you are self funding, please go to www.sheffield.ac.uk and search 'online store'. When in the online store search for 'study day'.  You will then be able to pay online. 

3. Confirmation of your place

  • We will email to confirm when you have been allocated a place and you will receive a full offer email with starter details a month before the study day takes place

Please note that your place will not be allocated or confirmed until we have received the necessary approvals.


B. Accredited units/modules

If you wish to apply for individual modules at any level, or work towards an undergraduate degree or diploma award, please use this application method. If you wish to apply for a postgraduate award, please follow route C below.

1. Application

  • View details of the modules we offer at www.sheffield.ac.uk/hsccpd
  • Complete the on-line application form
  • Make sure you enter details about your chosen level of study correctly as many of our modules are available at either diploma, degree or masters level

2. Funding

  • Visit our funding page for details of different funding options
  • You will be sent an electronic pdf copy of your fees and funding form via email within a week of your applying online. All applicants are required to print off the form, check and sign.  Further details of how to complete the form will be attached to the email.
  • If you are LBR funded, pass the form onto your senior manager for approval and they should forward it on to your LBR lead - who will then return it back to us if authorised.
  • Please note, all funding is subject to availability. The Admissions Team will contact you if funding is not available, once your completed fees and funding form has been returned.

  • If your fee is being paid by a sponsor (eg non-NHS employer) please forward a sponsor letter with details of how we can invoice for the fee to our office.
  • If you are self funding, please complete Section 4a of the fees and funding form, sign and return to the Admissions Team.  The University will then advise you how to pay your tuition fee online.

3. Registration

Your place on the course will be confirmed by email once we receive the necessary funding approvals. An offer email with the course start details will be sent to you between 3-6 weeks before the course is due to start. In some cases you may be required to provide further information to support your application and registration on courses that lead to an academic award.

If you are a new student or starting on a new course you will be sent an email with pre-registraion activities to complete before you commence your course, you must do these to comply with University Regulations. If you do not receive this email please contact preregistration@sheffield.ac.uk. It is essential to complete the pre-registration steps that activate your university computer account, upload your Ucard photograph and enable your full registration.

 If you are a continuing student please access the registration link through MUSE. Please note that continuing students may not have to register if they have already studied a course within the same financial year.

Once you have registered your Ucard will be made and given to you in class or posted to your home address. You must be registered before you can get a Ucard.


C. Postgraduate courses

If you wish to work towards an academic award at postgraduate level, use the instructions below to apply for the complete programme instead of applying for each individual module. If you wish to undertake individual modules at postgraduate level please use method B above.

1. Application

  • View details of the postgraduate programmes offered by each department at www.sheffield.ac.uk/hsccpd
  • Complete the on-line application form
  • A message will appear on screen acknowledging submission of application

2. Funding

Visit our funding page for details of different funding options.

If you are self-funding or sponsored, you do not need to complete an additional funding form as your fee payment will be arranged by registry services.

If you are being funded by the NHS contract please follow the steps below.

  • Download and complete the fees and funding form
  • Pass it to your senior manager for approval and they should pass it on to your LBR lead and back to us
  • We will write to you to confirm when funding support has been received

3. Registration
