Intro Week inquiry activities in Human Communication Sciences were revamped to provide an introduction to research and aid transition to university life. Students work in groups on a variety of activities, including treasure hunts and poster presentations, to familiarise themselves with their course and IBL, their department and their university, showcasing their posters at the end of Intro Week to a wide variety of staff and students from across the university.
IBL in Human Communication Sciences
This case study describes the strategies adopted to embed IBL more fully into the HCS curriculum, outlining the development of a model for IBL development across a spiral curriculum, with IBL expertise and activities cascading upwards. There are also details of the successful and transferable use of IBL in individual course units, and the creation of an innovative staff development and engagement forum known as the `sandpit´.
