New member of staff - Dr Maria Fragiadaki

Dr Maria Fragiadaki comes from the island of Crete and completed her BSc studies (Genetics) at the University of Aberdeen and her PhD (Molecular Biology) at Imperial College London. She has worked with Prof Roger Mason (Imperial College) and Dr Martin Zeidler (MRC Centre for Developmental and Biomedical Genetics) during her post-doctoral studies.

She has now joined the Department of Infection and Immunity as a Thomas-Berry and Simpson Fellow in October 2013. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms of kidney injury in fibrosis, hypoxia and polycystic kidney disease with an emphasis on the cytokine-sensing signaling pathway known as JAK/STAT. To achieve this Maria collaborates with Prof Albert Ong, Dr Sarah Walmsley and Dr Martin Zeidler.
