New member of staff - Dr Toby Holmes
Toby joined the department on 1 October 2013 to take up a position as Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Academic Unit of Nephrology on an MRC-DPFS-funded project which is a joint project with MRC Technology. The aim of the project is to develop rat analogues to human transglutaminase 2 (TG2) inhibitory antibodies which will allow pre-clinical testing in models of kidney and lung fibrosis. Toby will be assuming responsibility for performing the fibrotic modelling both in vitro and in vivo. Toby has previously worked on imaging subretinal transplants at UCL, London, the University of Utah and on the innate immune consequences of subretinal transplants at UCD, Dublin. Toby joins us from Prof Gill Tozer’s laboratory in Surgical Oncology where he was working on a project to investigate the role of hypoxia on the action of Combretastatin A-4-Phospate on human umbilical vascular endothelial cells.
