Newly Appointed Insigneo Senior Clinical Fellow Wins Young Author Prize

Dr Andy SwiftDr Andy Swift has won the 2013 Young Author Achievement Award for JACC Cardiovascular Imaging for his paper "Non-invasive estimation of pulmonary artery pressure, flow and resistance with CMR imaging: derivation and prospective validation study from the ASPIRE registry" published in the October 2013 issue.

The study shows that MRI can be used to diagnose and assess disease severity in patients with pulmonary hypertension, a severe progressive disease affecting the blood vessels to the lungs.

Professor Sheila Francis Head of the Department of Cardiovascular Science commented “this award honours Andy and his mentors in Academic Radiology, the Pulmonary Vascular Unit at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Insigneo and provides a springboard for the next phase of his clinical research programme".
