Finding Resources

Check the StarPlus library catalogue to find the items you are looking for and take note of the shelf marks listed.

Items I’ve requested

Follow the link below to discover how to request a book. Once your book is ready to be collected you will receive an email informing you from which site it should be collected.

If the collection site is the IC, you will be able to use the 24/7 self-service collection facility on Level 0. Books are organised alphabetically by the first 4 letters of the requesters name.

Reference items

Reference books have green bands on the spine and are shelved with the loanable items. These cannot be removed from the IC. Whenever there is a reference copy of an item, there should also be a loanable copy available.  If you can't find a loanable copy, please request the item through StarPlus

Ejournals, subject databases and ebooks

You can access these from the Library tab in MUSE or through StarPlus.

Other library sites

See the link for more information.

Oversize books

These are shelved on Level 4, at the end of the 999s.

Current newspapers

Current newspapers are available in the IC and can be found on Level 1.
Newspaper archives can be found via Nexis and via microfilm at Western Bank Library.

Past exam papers

We no longer have past exam papers available for students to access at any of our library sites. Please contact your department for information on past exam papers.

Music scores

Music scores are no longer held at the IC. They can now be found in the level 5 Reading Room at Western Bank library.

Issue machines

You can borrow books using self-issue machines on Levels 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4. You will need your UCard and PIN. If you do not know your PIN please follow the link below, log in and choose option 1. Your PIN will be emailed to you.

Return machines

The return machines are on Level 0. The robotised book sorter (one of the first in the UK) is on the left, just inside the main doors; the other return machine is to the right of the café.

You may return books from any site to the IC but to help us to get books back on the shelves as quickly as possible, please return books to their home site where possible.
