Sheffield is a great choice if you want to study around lovely nature and in professional academic environment.

I was recommended to study at the University of Sheffield from my friend who lived and studied here. My first impression of Sheffield was excellent. I arrived on a Summer evening when the sky was still so blue and air so fresh; I was amazed because it’s quite a different situation back home.
The environment in and around Sheffield attracted me. It’s one of the greenest cities in the UK, with lots of parks (and squirrels!). We’re also close to the Peak District and Chatsworth House, which I highly recommend visiting. Personally, I like to visit Mayfield Alpacas Animal Park where people can have the chance to get close to different animals, such as meerkats, armadillos, alpacas, and racoons!
I live in the city centre so everything is very convenient for me. I usually buy food from a local supermarket, and sometimes buy special Chinese food from the nearby Asian supermarket. Most of the time, I cook with my flatmates at home. I occasionally go to restaurants every month to experience different national cuisines.
I feel like Sheffield is my other home. Whenever I ask for help from local people, they are glad to help me. After I thank them, they often say “it’s alright, my love, my darling or sweetheart.” It just gives me a really warm feeling, especially when I am far away from home. I feel cared for living in this fantastic city.
The Students’ Union has many amazing facilities and support for international students. I often go to the Union to get new information and ask for advice . I used the Job Shop for help with my CV and cover letter, and also found my part-time job through the Job Shop. There are also fun activities, like dancing which I’ve never done before. It was very friendly for beginners and you don’t need to worry about bring a dancing partner. You will definitely get one! I think it’s very exciting to meet new people.
Sheffield is a great choice if you want to study around lovely nature and in professional academic environment. You can broaden your horizons and meet a better you!
