Entry requirements for students from South Korea
The University of Sheffield accepts a number of different qualifications from South Korea. Some of the most common are listed on the following pages. Should your qualification not be listed here, please contact the South Korea Team directly.
|English Language Requirements||
All applicants are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS or equivalent. The minimum score that is accepted for entry is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Some departments may require a higher score.

English Language Teaching Centre (ELTC)
For those applicants who do not currently have the necessary English language requirements, the University of Sheffield is able to offer a number of English language courses at our English Language Teaching Centre.
Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng
A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to undergraduate bachelor degree programmes. All applications for undergraduate programmes should be made through UCAS.

Korean High School Diploma
Applicants who have successfully completed the Korean High School Diploma will need to complete a recognised Foundation programme to be considered for entry into the first year of undergraduate programmes. Please contact the Korea Team to check if the Foundation Programme that you are considering is acceptable for entry.

Our International College provides undergraduate foundation programmes specifically designed for students seeking entry into the University of Sheffield.
Northern Consortium UK (NCUK)
The University is a member of the Northern Consortium (NCUK) which offers an International Foundation Year (IFY) in Seoul. Students who have completed the IFY programme and have obtained the required grades will be considered for entry into the first year of undergraduate programmes.
Junior College Diploma
Applicants with a minimum of 90% will be considered for direct entry to the first year of undergraduate programmes.
Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.
International Baccalaureate diploma holders will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.
Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc
We have over 200 postgraduate taught courses - if you are considering further study, there's a very good chance we'll have the course to meet your needs.
Korean University Degree Holders (Haksa)
Holders of a good bachelor degree, with at least 3.5 on the full band grade 4.5 or 3.3 on the full band grade of 4.3, from a recognised Korean university will be considered for direct entry to postgraduate diploma or Masters programmes.
For Entry to MBA
Holders of a good bachelor degree from a recognised Korean university and at least 3 years´ post-graduation work experience will be considered for direct admission to the MBA. Applicants must be at least 25 years old by the time the programme starts.
For Entry to Postgraduate Research Programmes e.g. MPhil, PhD, PhD with Integrated Masters
With around 2,000 postgraduate research students from over 100 different countries, Sheffield is one of the foremost centres for research training in the UK.
Korean Masters Degree Holders (Suksa)
Holders of a good bachelor degree and a good masters (Suksa) degree from a recognised Korean university will be considered for direct entry to postgraduate research programmes.
