Entry requirements for students from the Philippines

We have been welcoming students from the Philippines for many years and our staff are very familiar with the education system and qualifications.

High entrance requirements for our degree programmes at Sheffield reflect the quality of the University.

All applicants are required to have an internationally recognised English language qualification such as IELTS. The minimum score that is accepted for entry, in line with UKBA regulations, is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Please note that some departments may require a higher score.

Entry requirements

Undergraduate Programmes e.g. BSc, BA, BEng/ MEng

A variety of qualifications can be considered for direct admission to undergraduate bachelor degree programmes. All applications for undergraduate programmes should be made through UCAS.

A Level
Applicants with a minimum of 3 A levels will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes.

International Baccalaureate
International Baccalaureate diploma holders will be considered for direct admission to undergraduate programmes

Associate Degree
Applicants who have completed a High School Diploma plus a two year Associate Degree from an elite university with good grades may be considered for admission to undergraduate programmes.

Previous university study in the Philippines
Applicants who have completed a Bachelor degree at a highly competitive and recognised university with a good GPA may be considered for admissions to undergraduate programmes.

International College

Our International College provides undergraduate foundation programmes specifically designed for students seeking entry into the University of Sheffield.

Applicants who have taken the High School Diploma will need to take a recognised foundation year before being considered for undergraduate programmes.

Postgraduate Taught Programmes e.g. MA, MSc, MBA

Holders of a bachelors degree from an elite university, with the equivalent to a UK 2:1 will be considered for admission to postgraduate diploma or masters programmes.

For Entry to MBA

Applicants will need to satisfy the academic requirements of the programme and demonstrate at least 3 years' post-graduation work experience to be considered for admission to the MBA.

Our International College provides pre-Masters programmes specifically designed for students seeking entry into the University of Sheffield.

Postgraduate Research Programmes e.g. MPhil, PhD, PhD with Integrated Masters or direct admission to postgraduate research programmes.

Holders of a good Masters degree from an elite university may be considered for postgraduate research.
