Easter Vacation - April

Its Easter break now which is really exciting! I know that I really should be studying in these three weeks off but I can´t help but travel around! Last week I went to Dublin with some of my friends. It was so much fun! That´s the thing I love about being in England, everything is so close by and so easy to access as well. The flight there was only an hour and all of a sudden you are in a totally new country. It was so much fun just walking around and taking in the Irish culture.

Dublin is such a beautiful city. One day, my friends and I took a trip out to the beach which was actually a lot of fun. The beach was completely different from any beach I have ever seen. There wasn´t much sand but there were these beautiful rocks everywhere that were massive. The tide also came up really high so it left a thin layer of seaweed all over the rocks! It was a bit slippery to walk across but nonetheless it was worth it. Once you got pass the rocks you ended up at this entrance to another beach. This other beach was for like daredevils who dove from the cliffs into the water!

After Dublin, I took a week to travel around England. I went to York, Oxford and London. All three of these cities are so different from each other yet I had a wonderful time in each. York had a very nice small town feel to it. There were cobble stone streets everywhere and a nice walk along the ruins of an ancient roman wall. It also was full of tea shops to stop in to have a nice afternoon tea! Also, York has one of the most amazing cathedrals I have ever seen. It is called York Minister and it is absolutely stunning. The stained glass windows were magnificent. After York, I headed down to Oxford

Oxford also had a great small town feel to it although you could feel a more student vibe there as well. It has a great city centre full of shops. I went around to all the different colleges. There was one in particular I liked; Christ Church. It´s the basis for a lot of Alice in Wonderland plus they filmed Harry Potter there too! In the evening, I went around the River Thames in a punt. A punt is basically like a gondola. It was so much fun! It was the perfect day for punting. It was warm and sunny still and we had a great tour guide doing the punting! He told us all about Oxford and its history.

Last but not least was London. London was amazing to say the least. It is such a huge and multicultural city. It´s nearly impossible to get bored there. I really enjoyed myself because I did the whole touristy tour of London which was great! I got to see all the major sites like Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Tower of London and St. Paul´s Cathedral! I also went to Madame Tussauds which was so cool! Those wax figures look so life like it´s almost scary. After Madame Tussauds I went on the London eye which is located in the south bank—it is right next to the River Thames. It was such a cool experience. You got to see the entire city from this amazing 360 degree panoramic view.

Overall, I have to say I have had a great Easter! I guess it´s finally time to hit those books though!

Welcome to my web diary!

I was just looking at what a beautiful warm day it is today and it´s got me thinking about going for a walk. That´s the thing I love most about Sheffield. I love going for walks because I find that´s the best time for me to think and relax, especially after a long day

Luckily for me, Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the United Kingdom. There are tons of parks that I can just go to whenever I feel like. The best part is they are all so close by. In fact, the other day, I just decided to walk up my street. I kept walking for like 15 minutes and all of a sudden I discovered a new park I could check out. I went inside and I absolutely loved it. It had all these random trails that went off in every direction possible. But the best part had to be the jungle gym! It was great! It had a rope climbing wall and three different types of see-saws as well as a swing set. It made me feel like a kid again!

I love being able to go off and discover new places. In fact, once I finished playing around I went further down one of the trails and discovered this adjoining park. I went walking around this new park and discovered that it ended at this amazing place called Rivelin Valley which had this beautiful river called the Rivelin River. I just love days when you can just go on a random walk and discover somewhere so new. There is so much to Sheffield that I still need to discover and learn about.

Luckily now that Easter break is approaching I´ll be able to do more of that. The best part is the weather is now going to be warm and sunny which makes the days just much better. It´ll be nice to just find a nice piece of green grass to sit on outside and read a good book that I have been dying to read.

I think my favourite place to sit outside in Sheffield is the Botanical Gardens. They are just absolutely amazing. They are so many gorgeous flowers and trees and plants there. Also, there are so many different places one can just sit in chill in but the best has to be underneath the gigantic willow tree in the botanical gardens. The tree is absolutely huge with nice big leaves and it provides the best amount of shade so you aren´t too warm but aren´t too cold either.

You have to just love spring and summer time!
