I felt so welcomed by the University having been awarded a scholarship
What made you choose to study at Sheffield and your course?
I have always been interested in Natural Language Processing (NLP). One day I read an NLP paper written by the University of Sheffield, I then researched postgraduate courses in Sheffield and found my course. Because I knew that Sheffield’s NLP research group was one of the biggest research groups in the world, I was convinced that studying here would improve my knowledge and be beneficial to my future research career.
What was your initial impression of Sheffield and the University when you first arrived?
Sheffield is easy to live in. The prices are affordable for self-funded students compared to other cities in the UK, and when you go to the city centre, you can easily get a range of commodities. When I arrived at the University, I was overwhelmed by its huge Students’ Union. It was fun to have a look around and explore the building.
What are the highlights of your experience in Sheffield so far?
I was able to attend an international conference held in London and interact with famous researchers and PhD students across Europe.
What would you say to a student considering studying at the University of Sheffield?
Because Sheffield offers many study support systems including language support for international students and even maths support as well as a range of attractive subjects, I can say that it is worth studying here in Sheffield.
