"Everyone is so friendly and kind at Sheffield. No matter where you go, there is always someone who will be eager to help you find your way around or answer any questions."

What made you choose to study at Sheffield and your course?

The engineering facilities are some of the best I’ve ever seen. Additionally, Sheffield has extremely good ratings for student satisfaction and student wellbeing, which was an important factor for me to take into account when deciding which university to attend. One of the main reasons for why I chose Sheffield was the Diamond building and the package I received in the post containing course information.

How did you research the University to find out about studying in Sheffield?

By mainly reading pages on the website. I also looked through several university ranking websites. The packages I received from the University contained course specific information and this provided me with most of the information that led to my decision. Also, talking with current students through the online chat feature on the University website was also very helpful.

What was your initial impression of Sheffield and the University when you first arrived?

When I first saw the SU and Diamond building I couldn’t believe how new and up-to-date they were. I was also very happy with my decision when I saw how kind and helpful all the staff at the University were. No matter where you go, there is always someone that will be eager to help you find your way around or answer any questions.

What are the highlights of your experience in Sheffield so far?

There are so many I could put down but some of the best moments would be Thursday Karaoke, Cricket Club Socials, and dinners with my whole flat. The University has so many social things to do that you never feel alone or find yourself doing nothing in the evening. Every single day at Sheffield is a great experience, there is never a dull moment. Also, walking in the Peak District with my flatmates is always enjoyable and a nice escape from studying.

What would you say to a student considering studying at the University of Sheffield?

It will be the best decision of your life. Also, reach out to current students for any questions you have, they are the best resource you can use.

There is no other university that has this many things to do, be it archery or building a mock Mars Rover, there will be a club for you here, where you’ll be able to work with likeminded people. You won't regret it!
