"This is a university that puts students first in every endeavour, from the Students’ Union to funding opportunities and library facilities, each facet is aimed at making university life easier and more enjoyable for you."

What made you choose to study at Sheffield and your course?

My passion has always been in chemistry, but I knew that I needed to obtain a multidisciplinary degree for the issues I want to help find solutions to. It was an easy jump to chemical engineering from there, and with such modern facilities such as the Diamond, Sheffield seemed to be the best place to help manifest my aspirations over the duration of my degree.

How did you research the University to find out about studying in Sheffield?

I got most of my information through the website and emails, I also got to speak to a University representative in person on a trip to Dubai. Additionally, they provided a service where I was contacted by a current international student to discuss some of my other queries informally.

What was your initial impression of Sheffield and the University when you first arrived?

To be frank, it was a little intimidating at first, which I imagine to be a common theme amongst new students, however, the University staff have always been so helpful and supportive, which helped me feel right at home from week one.

What are the highlights of your experience in Sheffield so far?

Definitely the fact that I get to work with industry level equipment every single lab lesson! It helps me feel less frightened about joining the work force, and makes me feel like a professional even when I’m doing something as simple as measuring water flow rate.
