Cultural and Language Immersion (CALI) Summer School

What is the CALI Summer School?
The Confucius Institute at the University of Sheffield is hosting a Cultural and Language Immersion Summer School for 15-35 students this summer from 17th June - 14th July 2018. The programme will present an overview of UK history, architecture and arts, English language and literature, culture and etiquette, politics, media and business, education and daily life. Each topic is presented by either academics, researchers or respective field experts and there will be subsequent seminars, workshops, tutorials and assignments to be completed.
Information and Requirements
- Already a student or will be a university student in September 2018.
- Must be 18 years old and above.
- Must have met an English language level of an equivalent of IELTS 4.5 (in all components) or above.
- Willing to take homestay and follow the guidelines.
The cost of the summer school is £2,560 and this covers the length of the programme starting on Sunday 17th June 2018 and finishing on Saturday 14th July 2018, including collection from Manchester Airport on Sunday 17th June, homestay accommodation with meals, all the courses, seminars, workshops, tutorials, field trips and social excursions detailed within the programme.
All applicants are responsible for obtaining the required visa that enables their participation in the summer school. The University of Sheffield will ONLY provide invitation letter and other necessary assistance for a visa application after receiving fees payment in full.
Participants are responsible for the following at their own expense:
- Visa application (if applicable).
- Medical and travel insurance.
- International trip air tickets or other means travelling to Sheffield.
- Meals outside homestay.
- Other living costs/personal expenses during the programme period.
