WUN Steering Committee

The WUN Steering Committee at Sheffield provides strategic direction for our WUN engagement in order to exploit WUN opportunities and maximise its benefit to Sheffield's research and innovation, internationalisation and learning and teaching. It demonstrates Sheffield's commitment to WUN membership, transparency of how WUN is democratically operated and most importantly, the crucial support for academic community to build their international portfolios which advance their research and accelerate their funding bids.

Steering Committee members

The Steering Committee meets twice a year and its members include:

  • Mr Greg Morgan, Faculty of Social Sciences
  • Dr Neil Harris, Research and Innovation Services
  • Dr Malcolm Bulter, Director of Global Engagement

Steering Committee Terms of Reference

  • To monitor Sheffield’s engagement with WUN and decide new areas for participation
  • To advise the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation and WUN Coordinator on WUN Strategy
  • To make funding decisions on Research Mobility Programme (RMP) applications
  • To make funding decisions on Research Development Fund (RDF) applications (devolving to sub-groups and previewing letters of intent as required)
  • To keep under review the processes by which applicants bid for the RMP and RDF and the criteria used to judge these
  • To promote an awareness of WUN and the opportunities it offers and encourage engagement in WUN activities across the University
  • To evaluate WUN activities within the University
