PhD project
Title: "A Temple Unabridged with Priceless Treasure: An Investigation of the Library as Intellectual Sanctuary in Times of Conflict."
The aim of this thesis is to critically explore the impact of public libraries on the communities they served during times of conflict. Specifically, this study will seek to investigate if the public libraries of Yorkshire served as a place of intellectual sanctuary for the local working-class during the First World War.
