Student computer room rules
Computing facilities must only be used for study related purposes between 9.00am - 5.00pm, or any other time if there are no free machines.
Social email, internet chat and web access for leisure are unacceptable when other students are waiting to use computers.
Logged into machines should not be left unattended for long periods of time.
Only one machine can be used by any individual at any given time. It is not permitted to reserve machines, either physically or by any other means eg running a password protected screen saver.
Cold food and drinks with lids are allowed (but hot food and open cups are not ok).
Noise should be kept to a minimum.
Threatening, harrassing or abusive behaviour directed towards staff or other students is unacceptable.
Offensive material - abusive, sexist, racist or pornographic may not be displayed or printed in any student computer area.
Misuse should be brought to the attention of IT Services on extension 21111, with details of the machine used, the date and time. Disciplinary action will be taken where appropriate.
