ICOSS backs the Centre for the Study of Journalism and History

Martin Conboy

The Centre for the Study of Journalism and History has been approved as an ICOSS Centre at the University of Sheffield.

One of the the purposes behind creating ICOSS Centres is to help foster greater interdisciplinary research within the Faculty of Social Sciences by supporting Research Centres and creating opportunities for dialogue between departments.

As an ICOSS Centre we will be able to have access to some desk space at ICOSS, some administrative and technical support and some limited financial support.

Professor Martin Conboy and Dr Adrian Bingham of the History Department, the co-directors of the Centre for the Study of Journalism and History, will be involved on the new ICOSS steering group whose function will be to help shape the future direction of ICOSS - as the Centre of centres.

This is a timely recognition of the quality of the work of our interdisciplinary research work with the History Department as well as a vote of confidence in our ability to build upon its initial success.
