Mandy Appleyard has worked for national newspapers and magazines for many years, as a freelance now after many years on staff, most recently as launch editor of Fabulous magazine, the Sun on Sunday's award-winning glossy supplement. Mandy was shortlisted in the British Society of Magazine Editors’ Awards for the Fiona McPherson New Editor of the Year, and Fabulous won Highly Commended for Launch of the Year in 2008.
Mandy, who also worked on the launches of Grazia and Closer as Contributing Editor, was assistant editor of Woman magazine, News Editor of the South China Sunday Morning Post and Head of Features at the Press Association. She has worked on several magazine launch projects, and on the Daily Mail's Femail commissioning desk.
After leaving her job as features editor of the Scottish Daily Record to work as a freelance in California for four years, she returned to her native Yorkshire where she works as a freelance writer and magazine consultant. Her work regularly appears in the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Telegraph's Stella magazine, Essentials, the Daily Mail, Red and Good Housekeeping, among others. In 2016 Mandy worked in London on the launch of Trinity Mirror's New Day newspaper.
