As a world-class research institution, the University of Sheffield aspires to produce the highest quality research. At the heart of this is the key principle that governs all research involving human participants, and personal data: respect for the participants' welfare and rights. Researchers have an obligation to ensure that their research is conducted ethically and with the minimum possible risk to all those involved or affected by it.
The Online Ethics Application process follows the same principals as the previous paper based system.
You are required to get your supervisor to confirm the application before it is sent to the ethics administrator. The system works on the basis that PGR applications require three independent reviewers, and PGT and UG applications can be assessed as low risk (one reviewer) or high risk (two reviewers).
Please complete the ethics application with support from your supervisor.
