School of Law
I qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and joined the School of Law in September 2010. My main responsibilities relate to improving the employability and skills of students as well as teaching. I provide specialised careers advice to Legal Practice Course, Graduate Diploma in Law and other post-graduate students as well as those final year undergraduates who wish to pursue a career in the legal profession.
I teach on the Land Law, Equity and Trusts Law and Law of Restitution modules at undergraduate level. I have also taught Land Law and Administrative Law on the GDL and Property Law and Practice and Business Law and Practice as well as skills sessions on the LPC.
Whilst in private practice I trained and worked in the City before becoming a partner at a Berkshire-based firm. I currently work as a consultant for the London real estate group of an international commercial law firm.
- LLB. (Hons) Law, University of Manchester
- Law Society Finals, College of Law
- Teaching interests
My experience in private practice informs both my work in student employability and my teaching. It’s vital that students develop skills and confidence from their curricular academic studies and their extra-curricular activities as a Sheffield Graduate. The ability to analyse and apply black letter law with precision and judgement as well as developing an appreciation of the wider, real world, context of law and the legal system are very important to students in their academic studies and are transferrable, whatever their chosen career, to enable them to succeed after University.
