Scope of the Research

My research is an exploration into the criminal justice experiences of individuals who are bereaved by homicide. In a system which claims to be centred on the victim, I will examine the extent to which the criminal justice process and other relevant social agencies have the ability to compound the original trauma. This will be done in relation to the interactionally constituted understanding of the bereaved and the definitional and interpretive processes that constitute victims of crime.
