Profile

Chris is a field and laboratory technician in Dr Lisa Ainsworth’s plant biology lab at the UIUC. He has worked on many projects at the soyFACE research farm, including corn, soybean, sorghum, switchgrass, and miscanthus under elevated ozone, as well as soybean under elevated CO2, elevated ozone x drought, and elevated temperature. This is part of experiments to measure physiological responses to predicted future climate change scenarios. Chris is currently working on the elevated CO2 x basalt RockFACE experiment through the Institute for Sustainability, Energy and Environment (iSEE) in collaboration with the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation (LC3M), which is researching enhanced basalt weathering for a traditional corn and soybean rotation in a realistic farm environment under elevated CO2 and how this affects the plant physiology or soil characteristics.
