Off

Buick Davison joined the academic staff of the University of Sheffield in 1993 after a number of years in practice as a Structural Engineer.

He is currently Professor of Structural Engineering and Deputy Head of the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering.

His research interests include the investigation of the behaviour of steel-framed structures, and the environmental sustainability of construction practices.

Professor Davison has authored more than 150 refereed journal and conference papers, and is co-editor of the Steel Designers’ Manual (6th and 7th editions).

Originally published in 1955, the book contains comprehensive information on the design of steelwork, including the development of design solutions, potential problems from production, and theoretical analysis of structures.

The most recent edition has been comprehensively revised to reflect the adoption of the EN Eurocodes, the growing importance of light steel and secondary steelwork, the importance of sustainability issues, and the growing use of computer analysis.
