Atlas of Hillforts of Britain and Ireland

This online atlas captures the locations and key details of over 4000 hillforts in Britain and Ireland. Mostly built during the Iron Age, Hillforts were central to more than 1500 years of ancient living with the oldest hillforts dating to around 1000 BC and the most recent to around 700 AD. The project is the work of researchers from the University of Edinburgh, University of Oxford, and University College Cork with funding from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
