Keeping up to date with the latest research
Looking to stay current with your favourite journals and across disciplines? Now you can with BrowZine, a new desktop and mobile-friendly service helping you to browse and read journals quickly and easily.
BrowZine is a tool which enables you to browse, read and monitor current scholarly journal content on your mobile device, laptop or desktop PC. It works by bringing together articles from our subscribed journals and Open Access material into a single place. You can view the tables of contents, read articles as new issues are published, or read previous issues. BrowZine also integrates with many reference managers such as Mendeley and EndNote. Set up a free account to take advantage of additional features, such as saving your favourite journals to your personal bookshelf and saving articles for reading later. BrowZine is great for current awareness and browsing journal content, and complements StarPlus which is still the best tool for searching.
BrowZine is available for:
- iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches with iOS v8.x+
- Android tablets and smartphones with OS v4.1+
- Kindle Fire HD tablets
In addition to BrowZine, most literature searching databases give the option to set up email alerts to keep you informed of any new research in your area. When you run a search, you have the option to save it and sign up for regular emails to alert you when new papers are published matching your search. Here’s how to do this in Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar and StarPlus.
Start using the desktop version or download the free app from the Apple and Amazon App Stores and from Google Play (use the 'Quick links' on this page). After downloading the app, find University of Sheffield in the list and enter your University of Sheffield username and password when prompted.
