The Manufacturing Pasts collection contains sources relating to the history of manufacturing in Leicester, selected from the Record Office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland and the University of Leicester Library by subject experts at the University of Leicester’s Centre for Urban History. The collection includes photographs, factory plans, company publications, insurance plans and maps. These relate both to selected factories and areas of Leicester, illustrating their growth, peak, and subsequent decline during the 20th Century.
Further information about the collection can be found on the University of Leicester Library's Manufacturing Pasts page, which presents a range of multimedia samplers introducing the collection's four major industrial themes:
- Conservation and urban regeneration
- Factory and the community
- Social life of the factory
A toolkit is also available to help you make the most of the primary sources and learning materials.
Access is available directly from this page by connecting to the Manufacturing Pasts website - you'll be prompted to log in to MUSE as necessary.
