Naxos Music Library

Naxos Music Library is an online classical music library which offers streaming access to thousands of CDs. It includes the complete Naxos and Marco Polo catalogues plus titles from other labels. Liner notes and background information are also available, including synopses of operas, pronunciation guide for composer and artist names, a glossary, an overview of musical terms, work analyses and instrumentation details.


Access is available directly from this page by connecting to the Naxos Music Library website - you'll be prompted to log in to MUSE as necessary.

There is also a Naxos Music Library (NML) app available for iOS and Android devices. To log in to the app you need a Naxos Student/Member Account. You can create an account from the web version, or you can create it from the app:

  • To create an account from the web version, connect to Naxos Music Library using the link on this page, select the 'Playlists' option from the menu, select 'Sign up' and fill out the registration form. You'll get a validation email to confirm your account.
  • To create an account from the app, select 'Connect with your institution' on the app home page, and enter the 'Activation Code' on the next page. You'll be recognised as a University of Sheffield user and presented with a registration form to fill out. You'll get a validation email to confirm your account.
