OpenAthens accounts for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health
Staff and students teaching or studying on an NHS commissioned course are entitled to access the journals and databases provided by NICE Evidence http://evidence.nhs.uk/. To connect to these resources an OpenAthens account is required.
An OpenAthens username and password will only give you access to the national content. This includes:
- HDAS (Healthcare, Databases Advanced Search) - an interface giving you access to MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, AMED, British Nursing Index, HMIC and Health Business Elite.
- PsycARTICLES and the Hospital Premium Collection via ProQuest.
- Journals from the BMJ and AMA collections.
Your OpenAthens account will also give you access to training resources from E-learning for Healthcare
All recommended reading for your course is provided by the University of Sheffield and is accessed via your MUSE login.
To register for your OpenAthens account email firstname.lastname@example.org with your full name and University of Sheffield email address.
Once your OpenAthens account has been set up, you will receive an activation email from OpenAthens, please follow the instructions to access your account. Please note the activation code is only valid for 30 days, if you do not activate your account in this time, you will need to request another account. The account will expire at the end of your studies, or if you leave employment with the University.
