InterLibrary Requests for STH Staff and External Customers

Before making a request please check the Library catalogue StarPlus and ensure that the item is not in stock, either in print or electronically. If the item is in stock but out on loan you can place a request through StarPlus. You can also check the Directory of Open Access Journals: DOAJ and OpenDOAR: Directory of Open Access Repositories where you may be able to find the full text of the item you require.

What if the Library does not have the item I want?

If the Library doesn’t have the item you require and you can’t locate it from any other source, we will try to obtain it as an interlibrary request. This service is expensive and we request you use it only for essential materials.  External borrowers will be charged. Please see here for more details.

The form can be downloaded either in Word or pdf format. Once completed, the form can either be:

  • scanned and sent via email to ilr@sheffield.ac.uk
  • handed in at Western Bank or the Health Sciences Library
  • posted to Health Sciences Library, Royal Hallamshire Hospital, University of Sheffield, Beech Hill Road, Sheffield S10 2RX

For STH Staff payment is made from library funds so no charge will be taken from your account. Please note that the library reserves the right to share information with your department regarding your request(s).

Payment options

If you are a registered external borrower, payment can be made via the online store after the item has been received. Information on how to do this will be sent to you once the item has been received.
