School and college visits to the University Library
These pages are currently being updated (as of 9th September 2019). Please contact the library: firstname.lastname@example.org before visiting.
We welcome school and college visits to the University Library, especially for students studying towards the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) or doing independent research projects as part of other further education courses. We ask that visits are requested at least 3 weeks in advance and there are some times of the year (January-February and May-June) when we are unable to accommodate visits due to examination/revision periods. Groups of young people under the age of 18 must be fully accompanied and supervised and the responsibility for their safeguarding cannot be taken by Library staff.
Please note: Work is now underway to improve the heating, cooling and air quality in Western Bank Library. The work, which is due to be completed by October 2019, will provide a more comfortable environment for all users and visitors. Access will be unavailable to schools and colleges until this time.
To arrange a school or college group visit to the University Library please email email@example.com.
Further education students are also welcome to join the University Library under Post-16 External Reader scheme from the September after they complete Year 11 (parent/carer consent required for under-18s). Applications for Post-16 library membership are done online and you will be required to upload a recent passport-style photograph. (Please note: Applications will reopen October 2019)
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult when visiting the library.
