Student Feedback

The University Library is committed to providing all students with excellent service. We welcome and encourage feedback to help us to improve the services that we provide.

We’d love you to tell us what we’re getting right, what you think we could do better, and what is important to you in the Library - it’s your chance to make a difference to Library services!

There are a wide range of ways you can have your say.

Library Surveys

The issues and topics that are important to you are important to us. This is why we like to check in with you from time to time. Every year we invite our students to take part in surveys so that you can have your say and help shape the future of your Library. The main student surveys listed below cover the Library and wider student experience. These are the surveys that benchmark the University Library at a national level and against other universities - so it is really important that you take part and share your views.

NATIONAL STUDENT SURVEY (NSS) - NSS is for final year undergraduate students and is used to help inform where improvements are made within the University. As part of the NSS, students are given the chance to say if Library resources have supported learning well. Learn more about the NSS.

LIBRARY LIFE PULSE SURVEY (LLP) - LLP is a survey about your experiences of The University Library. This research is conducted by Alterline - a research agency - on behalf of The University Library to understand students' study needs. Learn more about LLP.

Focus Groups and Associates

We are committed to working with all students to help improve and develop Library services and the overall student experience. Some examples of the types of ways we listen and the ways you can get involved include:

  • Using student feedback to improve StarPlus
  • Developing a student panel to take forward the Library’s Reading for Diversity programme
  • Working with student associates to develop the Library’s Information and Digital Literacy offer
  • Working with students to co-create new study spaces
  • Student user testing to help develop a study ‘space finder’ website that will include a searchable database of spaces and bookable rooms, enabling students to find their ideal space throughout the year.

Our world-class library has a strong reputation for delivering an outstanding student learning experience. Working with students is an important part of developing an innovative approach to service delivery and enhancing the rich resources of one of the UK’s leading research libraries.
