- Profile
-
My research deals with developing a new generation of lightweight, robust, cost-effective and sustainable structures, primarily to address the low-cost housing issues.
Mohammad Adil Dar pursued his PhD in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 2020, where he worked on the nonlinear structural behaviour of cold-formed steel built-up columns. Afterwards, he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore, where he developed fast-installation connections for steel and composite framed structures.
He recently received the prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship from the European Commission, Horizon Europe. He also received the Ramanujan Fellowship from the Indian Science and Engineering Research Board, an equally prestigious fellowship. He won the Distinction in Doctoral Thesis Award for high-quality research. His PhD thesis was nominated among the top 3 Doctoral Theses in Civil Engineering by the Indian National Academy of Engineering in 2020. In recognition of his research accomplishments, he was conferred with the Promising Young Structural Engineer Award by the Indian Association of Structural Engineers in 2021.
He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and their Structural Engineering Institute. He works in two of their Technical Committees, Cold-Formed Steel Members Committee and Metals Technical Administrative Committee (Structural Members), serving as the youngest member in both these committees. He is also actively involved with the Structural Stability Research Council (SSRC), USA. Since 2019, he has consistently presented his research findings during the SSRC Annual Stability Conference (the world’s leading annual structural engineering conference with a high rejection rate). He is also a member of the SSRC Expertise Database in the area of structural stability of steel structures. Furthermore, he is a part of SSRC’s Task Group 2 (Stability of Steel Members) and Task Group 5 (Thin-Walled Structures).
