Visiting researcher Dr Keita Irisawa wins poster prize at the 35th Cement and Concrete Science Conference
Dr Keita Irisawa, a visiting researcher from Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA) has won a poster prize at the 35th Cement and Concrete Science Conference.
Held at the University of Aberdeen, 26 - 28 August, Dr Irisawa's poster titled “Effects of composition on calcium aluminate phosphate cement for caesium nitrate incorporation” presents a potential benefit of phosphate modification on calcium aluminate cement for incorporation of caesium, often found in the intermediate level radioactive wastes.
Collaborating with Dr Hajime Kinoshita, Department of Materials Science & Engineering, Dr Irisawa's work is funded by JAEA and IIKE collaborative R&D fund. He is working in the Department until the end of February 2016, continuing further collaboration from Japan.
