CDP Spring Meeting comes to Sheffield
Academics and industry leaders from across the world descended on Sheffield last week for the Spring meeting of the Center for Dielectrics and Piezoelectrics (CDP). This was the first time that the meeting was held in Europe, and it gave the Center an ideal opportunity to engage with invited guests from the UK and the rest of Europe.
The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Sheffield is the first CDP Affiliate Partner outside the Unites States, and is the Center's European Hub.
During the meeting, delegates listened to presentations about recent developments in the field of electroceramics, including new methods for ceramics processing, capacitors and supercapacitors, energy storage, reliability, advanced characterization techniques, piezoelectrics, thin films, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS).
They also enjoyed a banquet at Sheffield's Cutler's Hall, the headquarters of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire which was originally set up to oversee the manufacture items such as knives, blades, scissors and cutlery, and later steel in general.
