Technicians receive award for outstanding professional development
On Wednesday 23 September, Dr Lisa Hollands and Ben Palmer attended the Science Council Continual Professional Development Awards (CPD) in London.
Invited by the Science Council, after being nominated by the Institute of Science and Technology, both were nominated for their continual professional development towards Registered Scientist status (RSci).
The awards are in recognition of those working in scientific and higher technical roles; the diverse nature of their work and the various ways in which they interact with their workplaces and communities to inspire others.
Both Dr Lisa Hollands and Ben Palmer received their awards from the CPD judging panel, with their reports selected as excellent examples of ‘good CPD’.
Dr Hollands received a highly commended award and delivered a presentation on her experiences of the continual professional development process. Ben Palmer received the Registered Scientist award.
The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Learning Group is part of the Science Council’s initiative to share best practice in monitoring and supporting CPD of members amongst Licensed Bodies and member organisations.
This year the Council launched a new CPD award for all four of their registers to celebrate the efforts and achievements of registrants from across 29 Licensed Bodies. Each Licensed Body was invited to nominate two registrants from each of their registers, with 27 nominations received in total.
