Department’s accreditations recognised as part of IoM3 150 year celebrations
At their annual awards dinner and celebration, the Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals (IoM3) recognised the efforts of educational institutions for upholding the standards of their Materials-related programmes.
The IoM3 presented award to all institutions which run courses that have been accredited by them for more than 15 years. The University of Sheffield was the only university to receive two awards, one for each of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and the Interdisciplinary Programmes Office (IPO).
Courses run by the Department have been accredited continuously for 33 years, and those run by the IPO for 37 years. This demonstrates the commitment of the University to maintain world-leading courses and set their graduates on track to achieve Chartered Engineer Status from further career development.
At the awards ceremony, Dr Russell Goodall was presented with the two awards by Ian Bowbrick, IoM3 Director of Professional Development and Membership.
