Alumni host Professor Sheila MacNeil and Dr Gwendolen Reilly at International Stem Cell Conference

Professor Sheila MacNeil and Dr Gwendolen Reilly with alumni at Stem Cell ConferenceProfessor Sheila MacNeil and Dr Gwendolen Reilly were guest speakers at the International Conference Stem Cells: Development and Management, from the 30 November – 2 December 2015.

Held at Naresuan University in Thailand, the conference was organised in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the University. With Professor MacNeil and Dr Reilly invited as keynote speakers to support the exchange of information and ideas to fill the prevailing gaps in the transformation of stem cell research across the globe. 

Dr Reilly spoke on 'Stem Cells: Biology and Technology' whilst Professor MacNeil discussed 'Stem Cells: Applications'.

Both academic staff were hosted by departmental alumni; Dr Anuphan Sittichokechaiwut, who completed his PhD in Engineering Materials in 2009, and Dr Sasima Puwunan, completing her PhD in Engineering Materials in 2013. 

Both alumni were supervised by Dr Gwendolen Reilly and are now academic members of the Faculty of Dental Medicine at Naresuan University, with Dr Sittichokechaiwut now University Vice-President for student affairs.
