Peiyu Chen was appointed a University Teacher by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2021.
Peiyu obtained her BA and MSci degrees (Hons) in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge in 2014, specialising in Materials Science. She then worked as a Graduate Engineer at Morgan Advanced Materials PLC for one year (2014–2015). After this Peiyu completed her DPhil in Materials at the University of Oxford (2015–2019), during which she worked on the synthesis and characterisation of two-dimensional nanocrystals.
From 2019 to 2021, Peiyu continued at Oxford, working on the surface science of solid-state lithium batteries. During this time, Peiyu was awarded a David Cockayne Junior Research Fellowship and several College Lectureships. She was voted Best Departmental Lecturer and won a Departmental Recognition Award for outstanding lecturing performance.
