Centre for Doctoral Training in Nuclear Energy (GREEN)

This is an exciting time to be involved in the field of nuclear science and engineering, and the CDT in Growing skills for Reliable Energy from Nuclear (GREEN) will give students the chance to take their place among the next generation of nuclear experts.

Energy researcher

A CDT PhD in GREEN is a fully-funded four-year qualification taking place across a consortium of the five universities of Sheffield, Manchester, Lancaster, Leeds and Liverpool.

The research programme offers a range of nuclear related projects across all five institutions, spanning a number of disciplines, and aims to develop and deliver the research and skills required to address key challenges in the field of nuclear energy across the entire fuel cycle.

Researchers in our CDT will carry out research that underpins the safe and extended operation of existing reactors and the future development of safe, secure and sustainable new build nuclear power plants in addition to back end research on spent fuel, decommissioning and waste management.
